TikTok Ads CPC

By Oliver Wakefield-Smith, Digital Signet. Updated July 2026.

TikTok has the thinnest trustworthy benchmark data of the eight platforms on this board. Rather than borrow a folklore number, this page states that plainly and covers what is documented: the auction, the minimums policy, and the self-benchmarking route.

No number, on purpose

We found no current-vintage public TikTok CPC benchmark with named methodology comparable to the LocaliQ datasets used elsewhere on this site. The figures that circulate are mostly agency posts citing each other. Per the policy on the lot provenance page, that means no number ships here. When a source worth citing appears, this page gets it with a vintage chip.

How TikTok's auction differs

TikTok prices by auction like the others, with campaign objectives spanning traffic, conversions and video views TikTok for Business. The practical difference is that creative does most of the bidding: the feed is algorithmic and full-screen, so an ad that holds attention earns delivery and cheaper outcomes, while a repurposed TV spot pays a dullness tax. Budget minimums exist at campaign and ad-group level; TikTok's own documentation is the moving authority on the amounts, so check them there when planning.

Establish your own baseline

Run a capped test: one campaign, native-feeling vertical video, two weeks. Then divide spend by link clicks in the find-your-CPC calculator and judge against your break-even, not against anyone's quoted average. For video campaigns priced per view rather than per click, the translation maths is on CPC vs CPV.

Which local businesses should test it

Retail and hospitality with visual product and a younger local audience: food, fashion, events, salons. Trades and professional services rarely find buying intent here. The head-to-head with Meta's short-video placements is on TikTok vs Instagram, with the measured Meta side LocaliQ, 2025 data for context, and the search alternative on the benchmark board.
