What drives the price

Legal tops the 2026 table because the prize is enormous and the supply is fixed. One personal-injury case can be worth five or six figures in fees, so firms rationally bid the click price up towards that value. Add aggregators and national firms competing in every city and the auction stays hot year round.

The spread within legal is real but the dataset publishes a single category median, so we do not print per-practice-area prices. Directionally, practice areas with high case values and urgent intent price above the category line, and routine consumer work prices below it. Treat any site quoting exact per-practice CPCs without a named dataset with suspicion.

At these prices the break-even logic is everything: a firm whose average case profit is four figures can afford clicks a tradesperson never could. Run the numbers in the break-even calculator before deciding legal CPCs are unaffordable.
